Can not change the date of an event

JomSocial Expired

Hi all,
i have here a website, where i can not change the date when creating a new event. A former co-worker updated the site this year from joomla 1.7 to 2.5 and developed a new template for the site. Now we realised that there is a problem when creating an event. Before the update everything worked well. I have an old local installation here and all was ok.
I changed the template, no difference.
I have to say that the actual joomsocial version is 2.2.4. I tried to update a local testversion but nothing works. when updating to 2.4.3, post or photos dont show up in the stream, same problem with 2.6.3. And updating to 2.8.4.2 shows only a blank frontend page. I uninstalled joomsocial erverytime before installing a new version.

Does this problem exist because that version is way too old for joomla 2.5?

I would be very happy for help.

Kind regards
Heiko

Hi, Dieter.

I'm sorry but you use outdated and unsupported version of JomSocial. We don't support it any more as current version -> JomSocial 3.2.1.5 is far different from version 2.x

So the best solution here will be to move to Joomla! 3.3.6 and JomSocial 3.2.1.5. We could help you with post migration issues.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Thanks for your fast reply.
Can you give me more details how to update?
I tried: Update from 2.2.4 to 2.4.3, 2.6.3, 2.8.4.2. With 2.8.4.2 i got a blank community page. Updated to 3.0.5.3 and had weird {actor} tags in the stream and the template was destroyed on the community page. Then updated to joomla 3.3.6 and the whole site was dead, only blank pages.

Are my update steps ok so far?
When should i update joomla to 3.3.6?
I am by far no joomla specialist, that was my former co-worker.

kind regards

Hi, Dieter.

Please, read this document:
documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Upgrade..._3.0.x_on_Joomla_2.5

If you have post migration issues - don't quit but ask for support on forum :) We'll help to solve your issues.

Sure template will be wrong after upgrade if you uses old template. {actor} inputs are from outdated language file and in forum is fix for it.
Blank pages can be healed :) We just need to display errors and we'll know what is wrong... usually it's because outdated plugins or conflicts. But nearly everything can be fixed. Just don't give up ;)

JomSocial Expired

Hi Michal,
i have now a developer-site in /jomsocial with the latest jomsocial version 3.2.1.5 and joomla 2.5.27. Updating joomla to 3.3.6 is on my list.

I realized that 3.2.1.5 is using bootstrap and that caused problems with our template, which is based on bootstrap too.
Is there a way to prevent loading this bootstrap file with an override? Now i simply disabled the content.

I also replaced all the {actor}-tags in the laguage file and they are gone now.

But there are other problems: %1$s and %2$s with wrong/dead links in the stream.
Is it also a language problem? I found them in the language file, too.

New articles showing up in the stream without link. I am afraid that it is a new big problem with jreviews, which we use for all articles.

Thanks for your support so far.

kind regards

Hi, Dieter.

Issues you described in your last post are irrelevant to current thread title. Please, open new thread for them. This will be more easy to track them.

We're using modified bootstrap an jQuery. Disabling them will cause many other issues.

I need to see your issues with dead links on stream. So:

- open new thread
- describe your issue
- roll back changes so I could see that issue
- add working credentials so I could login to your site

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
