Hi,

As you may have noticed from other topics that I created lately, I am looking for a solution to show certain events to certain groups of users. As we already have some Joomla core acl groups because of other functionality on the site, I started out looking for some kind of integration of the core acl with JomSocial and/of an integration of a 3rd party events management extension. However at present I've returned to the options within JomSocial itself in an attempt to create what I need.

What do I need: we have 3 groups of registered users, with "cascading" acl rights. So users of group A can see events for group A, users of group B can see events for both groups A and B and users of group C can see A, B and C events. Now I thought that I should create 3 private groups in JomSocial, corresponding to these groups, and then assign each user to one, two of three of JomSocial groups, according to their acl status.

After doing this, I've created some test events belonging to different JomSocial groups (group events). Now what surprises me is that, on visiting the Show all events page, I see no event whatsoever, althought I logged in as a test user that has access to all three groups. I can see an event only if (a) I visit the group that it was created in, or (b) when I've registered to that event (including: having created this event myself).

What I would like to accomplish is: a list of all upcoming events in all groups that I am a member of, regardless of having registered to those events or not. And of course, events that belong to groups that I am not a member of should be hidden. I thought that not should be too hard, maybe I'm just overlooking something; maybe I just need some kind of manual on his topic.

It seems to me that this type of selection IS present in the JomSocial events calendar app (the one that looks like a calendar, not a list) but a listing would also be nice.

Also, it seemed to me that an event that takes place "today" is not alway shown in listings though it is shown in the calendar app. But this may be due to reasons that are related to the first part of my question.

I hope that I've made clear what I am looking for.

Kind regards, Frits

Hi, Frits.

This will be a major change/customization in JomSocial code and we don't support customizations. Please, read our Support Policy: www.jomsocial.com/support

So you could post a feature request here: uservoice.jomsocial.com/forums/101561-feature-request
Or, what I recommend, hire a professional developer to build that feature for you: www.jomsocial.com/jomsocial-developers

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
