Hi,

I have two questions about the events calendar. When following the hyperlinks to All events, in the right column of the JomSocial page I see a calendar. See also my screenshot:

Question 1.
I'd like to show this calendar module on the Home page of my site (which is a non-JomSocial page). However, I cannot find a way to show this as a module in a Joomla module position. I can only show a latest-events module. Is there a way to show this calendar in a module position in the site?

Question 2.
The users on my site may be or may be not members of JomSocial groups. Apart from that, they are in one of three user groups in the Joomla core user management. Would it be possible to filter events for display in the events calendar and/or latest-events module according to the Joomla core user group?

Kind regards,
Frits

Hi, Frits.

1. Please read this topic: www.jomsocial.com/forum/events/14257-event-calendar-in-a-module :)

2. To achieve that you'll neet to hire a developer as this is a major customization: www.jomsocial.com/jomsocial-developers

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Hi Michal, thanks for replying so quickly.

I also looked at this page listing third party events applications that me be integrated with JomSocial. I already did before submitting this topic and I did again as it is mentioned in the other topic that you are referring to.

It seems to me that the following scenario is non existent, but I'd like to check this with you: would there be a 3rd party calendar/event extension that (a) can read and display events from the JomSocial events tables and (b) natively has a filter on Joomla core user groups?

As for your answers to my questions: question #1 should not be too tough. It's #2 that bothers me.

Kind regards, Frits

Hi, Frits.

I disappoint you - I haven't tried extensions for events. We just inform that such a extension exist but we don't support them. So the best idea will be choose some extensions that look promising and ask you question directly to their developers ;)

Sorry, reopening the topic after I closed it.

I have the override installed as described in the other topic https://www.jomsocial.com/forum/events/14257-event-calendar-in-a-module . It does work (thanks!) but I have some questions about it:

1. Is it possible to highlight the current date?

2. Could it be possible to add browse buttons for the calendar. I mean: at the time of writing we are April 28th, 2014; maybe users would like to see if there are any events in May.

3. There's a parameter named "Default events value". This sets the maximum number of events that are shown in the module. This is very useful when showing a list of upcoming events (the default behavior of the module) but when browing a calendar view, we'd rather see a full list.

4. Events that happened in the past are still shown. Would it be possible to hide these?

I just discovered that the buttons are there, but they are not visible. I see they have these classes like "com-glyph-arrow-r" but I cannot see any arrows.

Hi, Frits.

1. Thins involves further customization of module. And this will be more complex so probably you'll need developers help: www.jomsocial.com/jomsocial-developers
2. Yes, there are arrows but if you display module somewhere else than in pages with JomSocial they lost their styling. So you need to style them yourself.
3. Again, this will involve further customizations with developers help.
4. Only if you rebuild way it select data from database... you need developers help indeed :)
