Is it possible to modify the latest events module (mod_community_events.php) to get the events from a single category or a list of categories? We have several groups and clubs with their own events and want to use the events module several times but limited to certain event categories.

Yes its possible to edit that module.. maybe you can hire a pro developer to develop that module like what you want.. :)
