Event SEF - Sorry, we cannot find the specified event.

Hello,

I am having a really hard time with SEF for events on my clients site. When I enable SEF from the global configuration everything works but the events. When you try and go to an event it gives you the notice: Sorry, we cannot find the specified event.

I moved a copy of the site to a folder called /development - I put this info in the development section of the private information. This is where I am doing the testing.

Please help.. need to get this working for SEO for the client.

Hi, John Helbling.

You should start with two things:

1. Upgrade Joomla! to current version.
2. Upgrade JomSocial to current version.
Version installed: 3.0.5.1
Latest version available: 3.1.0.4

Then check if issue still persist. Please post results here.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Unfortunately right now that is not an option. Our install is highly customized and we need the sef fixed before we have time to go back and redo the customization.

So what's my third option?

Hi, John Helbling.

Did you made any customization to All Events view?
It look like no menu item is linked to events:

myeventbuzz.com/component/community/even...arket.html?Itemid=50

And what is this "?Itemid=50"?

I think that this issue is not related to JomSocial rather than with menu misconfiguration. Try to review your menu items... turn all of them off and try to create new one with changed aliases... or if you made any customization to event view - review your customization then.

This is your third... and last option :)

Hi Michael,

Thank you for the information. Can you tell me why the View Events Menu item is set to Create event? We had to alter our menu items so the correct active displayed correctly.

Hi,

It's probably a translation mistake, we'll fix it. The path is important:

index.php?option=com_community&view=events

is for View All Events

index.php?option=com_community&view=events&task=create

is for Create Event.

This was for view all events.

Hi, John Helbling.

Yes, I know that it was for All Events.
I reported mistranslation already.

Honestly, its not important what name is displayed in "Menu Item Type" - most important is path generated by that menu item type. In my previous post I showed the difference.
