Client doesn't have a domain yet - Can I install localhost (MAMP)

I'm building a site for a client, I have purchased a license of Jomsocial. The problem is that in order to start I need to specify my domain name, but I don't know this yet. I'm building a client site and they have not decided on their final domain name but I need to get moving ASAP with the build.

What is the best way to start working on a localhost site using MAMP without a domain name?

In that case use localhost for now and when you have a domain name let us know.
