Just FYI to JomSocial dev and bug fixers....
It's not wise to set a default date to resolve bugs in the Birthday field... my AcyMail component sent out a mass flooding of Happy Birthday emails on Jan 1 to all the users who didn't set their birthday LOL.

Default value is none... and if birthdate field has no value no database record is created. I just tested it.

All old JS version's users has Jan 1 BD as default. Seems need apply some SQL query to emty/delete field value.

Michał we recently had a buggy Birthday field and site would throw an error page if there was no value. JS support resolved this error by adding / forcing a default value... which as Dmitry mentioned is Jan 1 so the auto send birthday campaign setup in AcyMailing spammed all nulls on Dec 31st LOL.

Sébastien in the joomla backend choose the JomSocial extension, then click "Profiles" then click "Customize Profile" and you should see the default Birthdate field (FIELD_BIRTHDATE) - if it's unpublished, just click to publish it.
