I would like to change the friendship request in simple follow up, so no approval by the user who chooses to have a public account. Can someone help me?

I am sorry, the follow feature is not available in current version, we have road map for this feature for version 4.5

The closest option is to display a publicly viewable module showing stream content from members who have set their content to public/members accessible. You are only restricted from viewing someone's content marked 'friends' only or 'self' only.
