a Guest I can't emphasise more the importance of regular backups, Akeeba for example can be set to make an incrimental backup prior to applying any updates. it's not important, it's imperative that you use Admin tools for site security and Akeeba backup for file protection and easy recovery from malicious attacks and the occasional developemental cockups!
