On the registration page we have 2 fields: "Name" and "Username". Is it possible to hide one of them? Everybody asks what is the difference.

Also you need to know that those fields are Joomla! obligatory fields - they are required to create Joomla! account.

a Guest You could simply redefine the constants for the fields, and use them to store alternative data other than name, however the username field is essential for successful logins, there isn't the same restrictions on the name field. Hope this helps. 9 years ago

a Guest The problem with this method of removal forces the user to potentially reveal all or part of their email address which presents a reasonable advantage to anyone harvesting user names to extract the email prefixes.
