Users are reporting that when they post urls to youtube videos in their status box that even though the link is parsed the following occurs intermittently:
1) Link parses correctly - video will play but is shown WITHOUT a thumbnail, OR
2) Link parses incorrectly - whereas link and description will show but video will NOT play and is absent completely.
Hi Jared,
I tried share link and link the video on your site, this is what Iget :
1. share link.. I see this is a problem on your site, but when I checked on newest code in my local everything is working fine, so please you update with the newest version which will be released very soon.
Could this be something different happening between an admin account and a normal user? This is the screenshot the user sent to me. Also notice that after the unsuccessful post, that there is not an 'Options' button in the upper-right for the user to be able to delete said post.
I just tested this again 7 different times in a row by doing the following:
1) Navigated into a group.
2) selected 'video' on bottom of status box.
3) posted url in field
4) clicked enter and video link parsed correctly
5) selected a category
6) typed a status in the box and added emoticon
7) clicked post button and video failed to post correctly.
This was only successful once.
Please try a few times and see.
ALSO, the gear icon will show in an admin account. It does not show in a normal user account when the post is unsuccessful.
Hi Jared,
Can you provide me the list of sample video URL, please? I will try to replicate it from my end too..
thank you
This is what I've noticed through my most recent tests:
1) User is logged in and posts url
2) Video does not load properly
3) When I go to delete the video from the category, I noticed that it was trying to be posted as Guest and not as logged in user.
I think this is the problem - Since guest accounts cannot post I can see how that would cause this issue if JS isn't recognizing the login session while the video is trying to be parsed. Perhaps this is something to take a look at? Thoughts?
HI Jared,
Ok, for making it clear, we discuss 3 issues here :
1. thumb video in stream
I just tested it again and unable to replicate it, I linked 3 videos and evrything is working fine. can you re-post the same video by yourself, please and let me know how it goes?
2. well, this is valid bug..
3. I need more information with this, what do you mean from category? can you ellaborate more, please?
thank you
1) Wasn't a problem - just a statement of procedure.
2) Please keep me posted on the bugfix
3) When the bug in occurs the improper video is listed as it was posted as a Guest. This should be impossible to do on my site. It appears that there is some sort of conflict which may be causing the issue as guests do not have access to post on the site so why would the site show that the not working video link was posted as a guest?
2. we will provide it once it fixed
3. I need to know how to replicate this, so we can inspect this issue further.
3) Log into the site and navigate to the videos section from the main JS toolbar and select the last page of listings.
HOWEVER, we just completed a server/db migration and those empty one are no longer there. I will create a new thread for this issue if it arises again.
I'll await item #2 to be fixed in the next maintenance release.
yeah, that is better.. you need create new topic for that special issue :)
thx
