We have realize by virtue of user complaints, that we do not have a way to search users of a dating site by zip code. Is this available in the core JomSocial? Or do I have to look for a 3rd party solution?

I added the zip code field via the custom field. This will, I believe, at least allow for an exact match search of zip codes for those who have one in their profile. However it will still not provide a "zip code radius" search (within 5 miles, within 10 miles, within 25 miles etc.).

I created a copy of the original module folder and saved it. Then replaced it with the contents of the ZIP file you sent. I then modified the en-GB.mod_datingsearch.ini file by adding MOD_DATINGSEARCH_ZIP="Zip Code". There was no zip code in the file so I added that line.

I then reloaded the site and got a blank white page. So something is breaking the site in that fix.

Could it be the "Getting Started" search box on the home page? Is search form referencing the old module and not working because it changed? I am guessing. So I had to go back and delete the changes I made and the directory you provided and the site is live now.

I have a staging (dev) version of the site. is there something else we can do and try it there first?

I cant make sure about that. But you need to backup this customize module first. at upgrade process this module will be replaced with new one. After upgrade I can re-put this customization if any errors.

I see that you added the zip code to the initial floating search module on the home page. Thank you.

When I search for Female and add an age and zip code, he resulting page shows up with all the female users. And the search form is set to Male.

The problem now is that when I search for a particular zip code, and a particular age group and gender, I get all results for the age group and gender. Regardless of what I put for the zip code, I will get the same results for women aged 25-35 in zip code 33629 and zip code 03103.

I am going to try it on the live site. Do I just replace the module in the Modules directory with the one you sent?

yes, you just need replace the module with I sent to you. But backup first, for safety.

after I investigate the issues. that issue only happen with old version. please upgrade your jomsocial to latest version after that I will re-make the changes for zip code at dating search for you.

I suggest you to do it at staging site first. if any fatal errors, we still have time to solving it
