thanks for this. This seems to resolve the issue from activity stream. How about the initial issue with template lock now?

Default template is being locked on pages even that uses a different template.

What do you mean with locked the default template? maybe you override the jomsocial template with your joomla template..

anyway can you explain more regarding this ,please?

Please check out these screenshots, I hope this will clear things up a lot.

Here is the template manager, as you see, the default template is set for metropolis: awesomescreenshot.com/0dd2vt0216

When we are trying to assign a menu to load an alternative template (yootheme cloud) it used to work, after update it is locked on default template.

awesomescreenshot.com/0062vt0qe6 <-- It looks like it's registered as the change of template because the menu bar doesn't show up, however the styling and everything is still forced.

This is the same with any other menu we try to create assigning a different template.

That is not Jomsocial issue, I suggest you report this to yootheme developer or Joomla forum,
