Jomsocial users need and expect a "hidden" group to be hidden and private. Currently when you create a "hidden" group it is advertised to EVERYONE that the group was created, publicizes the name of the group, who created it, when it was created, etc. That is not hidden that is "advertised". If we want an "advertised" group then we will make it public or "closed".
We need real "hidden" groups that are hidden from the activity list and not shown in the "Most Active Groups" list, etc. This is a minimum requirement.
An optional feature could be a "Make Membership Visible" check box that allows or dis-allows members of the group to see who the other members of the group are. This is not critical as the default to allow members to see other members of a group is probably ok for most sites but this option would also be nice to have.

Yes, I have but was informed that Privacy settings don't function or respect "system actions" otherwise I'm usually told "that is how it is supposed to work".
