Is this how the chat window is meant to look ? It seems so much more confusing than it used to be, is something wrong with my site as I've nothing to compare it against?

Siniša Krišan You should clean your cache, and also can go to the Theme Designer and just press save to rebuild CSS 12 months ago

Matt Thanks, that's sorted it, much better and can actually see what's going on now Is there a way to delete old messages? I assume going forward each message just merges in to one chat history for each user, but historic messages from the old style system each have their own chat item. 12 months ago

Happy to log a support call, but seems a bit over the top as it's not really a support issue. Is there any documentation on the new location aware feature and the Invite Only setting that's now available.

Siniša Krišan Hi Matt

I'm still preparing the doc for Invite Only functionality, but it is very simple, you as an admin just have to flip the switch, and decide how many invitations can user send (or set to unlimited even) and you're good to go.
After that, only users who get invitation through built in jomsocial invite feature that was there since day 1 can register.

We didn't built anything new here really...

Matt Thanks Siniša Krišan it's this bit from the change log I'm most interested in "Track the relation between invited user and invitee." Implies that I can see which existing member invited the new member. But as of yet, I've not found out how. 2 years ago

Siniša Krišan Yes Matt

You are right to some extend, however, we are just tracking the data for now but not display it anywhere.
Obviously, being able to see who was invited by whom comes first to mind, and it will be easy to implement it because data is there, but we have bigger plans for the manipulation of this data which i'm not going to spoil now

Does anyone else use watermarks on their pictures on their JomSocial communities? It looks like the watermark is applied before the image is resized, so if someone uploads quite a large (as in dimensions) picture, the watermark ends up being tiny rather than all the watermarks being the same size as you move through an album that has different dimension pictures. That seems the wrong way around to... Show more

a Guest hi Matt can you post this issue to forum please? and provide me the detail issue with screenshoot of your sample images, this issue too technical, we can't handle it on community thank you 2 years ago

Is there a way (or a component that anyone knows of) that would work in a similar way to the the "No Licence" and "JS Active" badge here. I'd quite like to have something like a Twitter Verified tick for users who are genuine and known. I guess a work around would be the "featured" user function, but that's a bit clunky.

Another cool thing would be the ability for users to police themselves via...

Found 2 good reads on "how-to" lock down these pesky public jomsocial pages.

How to check user is logged in Joomla site ? | PHP Technology Tutorials on WordPress.com

You can check Joomla user logging status using the JUser Object of JFactory class.

How does archiving work and what's it actually for? The documentation wiki just says it happens when the cron job runs, but doesn't really explain what it's doing.

I've noticed that I can see every single activity that's happened since the site was created, but I can only see things that have happened in the last day or so when I look at someone's profile and view their stream. I assume that's...

Siniša Krišan This is a setting for shared and generally weak servers, and it solely prevents the overhead of the activity database table, which is inevitable to grow big over time.
It means that activity will still be in the database, but it will be skipped on the page load.
If you have a decent server, you can simply put some crazy values to it and forget about it.
On shared hostings, this is a life saver.

Not sure if this will help anyone else, but I kept getting a blank page after upgrading to 4.1 on both the back-end and the front-end. I had to FTP and delete the contents of the following cache folders:

/cache
/administrator/cache

After that, everything appears to be fine.

Craig Luecke That happened to me with the RC version. A simpler way to fix this is to just hit the back arrow on your browser until the Joomla Admin shows up again, then hit the clear cache. FTP is a good backup method as well. 3 years ago

Michał I saw few reports in forum. After checking file system I noticed that JomSocial is installed abut files for front- and backend are missing. In that case just copy them manually from package to front- (site) and backend (admin). When backend will be unlocked, don't browse to JS but install iJoomla Installer and click "Override" button. 3 years ago

Is 4.1 now feature locked? Doesn't look like the "last online" has made a come back from older versions This was useful so that users wouldn't message someone that hadn't logged in for 3 months etc...

Siniša Krišan The "Last online" is not a feature it's just a parameter that is available in every user object

You can easily echo it with $user->lastvisitDate;
Ofcourse, under condition that you properly defined the user variable first
