I'm updating Turkish translation and found that Transifex convert ellipsis character into _QQ_ notation which latest Joomla! releases does not support and break translation.
Lines are below for backend source file. More could follow while I was working on other files.
Hi, Kaya.
Thank you for contacting us and reporting this issue.
Some of lines are using “” that are safe when "" are not. Please, take a closer look when translating - you may copy those signs or change them to simple '.
Escaping quotation marks wont work so I converted all of them into _QQQ_ in source file.
Change should be reflected on Transifex soon and lines will need to be translated again.
Thank you. I updated Transifex, used new translation file and found that I missed last one in /administrator/languages/en-GB.com_community.ini
Once again manual update did the translation work. So backend com_community will be finished after you fix this string.
Line 43
COM_COMMUNITY_BLOCK_USER_TIPS="Choosing “Yes” will block the user from your JomSocial site."
HI, Kaya.
Thank you for your work.
That string is fine. Just note the difference between " and “. You can't use first one as it will break the file. But you can use second one safely.
Hello,
Please consider using same punctuation standart between strings (as _QQQ_ or whatever).
Translators easily miss the difference between " and “ while reading.
Typing the character is another issue to solve (each nations keyboard layout a little different and they can't find how to type the right character).
And finding what is wrong in the broken translation file is painful sometimes.
So please...
HI, Kaya.
Yes, you're right - I'll open a ticket for our developers.
