JomSocial Expired

Okay, noob question...

I am trying to set Jomsocial as our homepage as this is the part of our site we want to keep active day to day. However, this is conflicting with other areas of our site.

I know that to set the homepage you configure this in the menu list with default page.

The problem is that our site also features an online magazine using the native Joomla setup and in particular, Category Blog pages with Articles - Category modules to sort articles by category.

Our current setup uses a native Joomla homepage meaning that all articles are loading fine but as mentioned we would like to use Jomsocial as our homepage. When we change the homepage to Jomsocial the site attempts to load articles on the Jomsocial page (which obviously doesn't work). This also breaks the Articles - Category modules.

Can you please advise how we can set Jomsocial as our homepage and maintain our blog pages and articles - category modules.

As this is one of the fundamental functions of Joomla, creating new menu items (single articles) for every article we publish isn't going to be a workable solution.

Thanks.

Hi.

Joomla! allows to display one component content at a time. So you can't set to display JomSocial frontpage and Joomla! articles category (blog) on the same page at once. You need to decide what is most important for you and what you want to be your frontpage.

Let's say that you choose to display JomSocial frontpage (com_community) as your start page. Then you may display articles list in modules.

If you choose to display articles (com_content) than you may use JomSocial modules like activity stream, JS Photos, JS Members to display JomSocial related data.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
