Advanced Search - no search field

I just noticed that the search fields in the Advanced Search are suddenly missing on my English pages. They are still there on the German pages. (see attached screenshots)
I upgraded from JomSocial 3.2.1.5 to 3.2.1.6 on Saturday and haven't checked the English Advanced Search since so that might be a clue. Any idea how to fix the problem?
And on a second note, is there a means to determine which field is displayed as a standard? Right now, "Name" is displayed as the standard search field, but I'd like to change it to "Welche Art von Kontakt wünsche ich mir?" if possible.
Thanks,
Stef

Hi, Stefanie.

I assign developer to this thread.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

Hi,

the issue because single quote (') make conflict with javascript.
so I changed:

COM_COMMUNITY_PROFILEFIELDS_AGE=Child(ren)'s year(s) of birth
to
COM_COMMUNITY_PROFILEFIELDS_AGE=Child(ren)\'s year(s) of birth

by using joomla backend > language overrides

Thanks a lot for solving my problem! Such a small character can cause such big problems!

Could you also comment on my second question?
Is there a means to determine which field is displayed as a standard? Right now, "Name" is displayed as the standard search field, but I'd like to change the standard to "How do I wish to connect with others?" if possible.

Hi Stefanie,

sure it can, you must override this file:
/components/com_community/templates/default/search.advancesearch.php

and at line 89 you can see 'username' changing it with related Field Code from jomsocial backend > profiles > customize profile

how to override:
documentation.jomsocial.com/wiki/Customizing_Template

HELP! I would like to inaugurate my site tomorrow and have just noticed that the advanced search does not deliver the expected results!!!

For example, if I search in the category "I speak" and select people who speak German, it only shows me the people who have German as their single language, not people who speak German and other languages. If I select German and Italian, it gives me a long list of people, many of whom speak German, but not Italian. That makes no sense! I have screenshots where the advanced search gave me the results I would expect. For example, a search for people who like roadschooling and speak Spanish, I got exactly the two people who like roadschooling (among other things) and who speak Spanish (and other languages).

Hi Albertus,

we have the same problem again that we had 8 months ago:
"Name" is displayed as the standard extended search field, but I'd like to change the standard to "How do I wish to connect with others?".

Line 89 in
/components/com_community/templates/default/search.advancesearch.php
looks like this
if($field->fieldcode == 'FIELD_CONT')
but still "Name" is displayed as standard. Where is my thinking wrong?

Hi,

if you using jomsocial 4.1.2,
copy /components/com_community/templates/jomsocial/layouts/search.advancesearch.php
to
/templates/[site template]/html/com_community/layouts/search.advancesearch.php

edit it, and line 102
changing it from

if($field->fieldcode == 'username')
to
if($field->fieldcode == 'FIELD_ABOUTME')

if still cant. I need to login at super user. please provide it to me.
