JomSocial Expired Socialize Expired

Hi,
I'm wondering how Jomsocial handles image uploads.
I'm testing my site atm, and a couple of testers said that uploading their avatar image is taking a long time.

At the moment my max upload filesize is 4M. upload_max_filesize 4M
How does Jomsocial handle images that are taken with a mobile device? For example if there is a 5M image taken on an iPhone, and then uploaded from the iPhone, does Jomsocial rescale the image size? Or how does this work?

I guess most users wouldn't edit their photos prior to uploading, so pictures taken with a mobile device are always at their max size, right?

It would also depend on internet speed, right?

Thank you.

Hi, Imad.

Yes, upload time will depends from original photos size and processing time of image will depends from your server settings and image size too...

JomSocial is scaled down and compressing images. Photo size is saved here: ROOT/administrator/components/com_community/default.ini and in database _community_config table (line 115: photodisplaysize=960)

You can set level of photo compresion in Backend -> Components -> JomSocial -> Photos -> Photo Settings -> Image Output Quality

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
