Welcome the Technical Support section. Help us in assisting you by providing us with a concise and descriptive elaboration of your issues. Be specific and if possible, provide us with a step-by-step instruction in replicating your problem.
Without core SEF enabled all is working normally, even with my 2nd setup failure as written below.
With core SEF enabled (standard htaccess file) i have 404 errors:
1.
I have 1 Jomsocial main menu created pointing to Jomsocial homepage: index.php?option=com_community&view=frontpage with alias 'community' and NOT set as default (first page) menu item.
Now when browsing these links (see screenshot):
http://localhost/community/jasper/profile
2. 404 errors...
But as i want to use Jomsocial as my entry frontpage of the website with the same menu link as above SET AS DEFAULT to Jomsocial homepage,
now when browsing the exact same links as above:
http://localhost/jasper/profile (works)
http://localhost/jasper/friends (works)
http://localhost/jasper/photos (DOES NOT WORK -> 404 error)
http://localhost/jasper/videos (DOES NOT WORK -> 404 error)
http://localhost/jasper/events (works)
When i create a menu item alias to "my-photos" and "my-videos" in a hidden menu item the link work again:
index.php?option=com_community&view=photos&task=myphotos
http://localhost/my-photos/jasper
index.php?option=com_community&view=photos&task=myvideos
http://localhost/my-videos/jasper
But this breaks the expected urls structure as set above,
So how it is possible that photos & videos links are broken from the user profile?
Please, read our Support Policy:

Localhost installations are not supported:

Please install your site on live server so we could check your settings.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
But i think i have written it out very nicely with exactly the issue reported. I could install it on a live domain and replicate it, getting the same errors, but that takes time again.
Page you linked doesn't say anything about support for localhosts - it says taht you may install JomSocial on anywhere you want.
Support Policy says clearly that localhost can't be supported because it's out of our rach. How you expect us to check your settings? Login to back- or frontend? How we could debug your site and try any fix?
It's simliar to ask mechanic to help you fixing your car engine by phone...
I don't ask you to go live but to set a DEV site in Internet so we could have access to it. Also localhos (XAMPP?) May be not configured well. JomSocial is designed for WEB not localhost...
I'll be happy to help you but, please give us a chance to access your site and take a look...
