Template hasn't changed after upgrading to JS 4.07
But your community has JS 4 look... your current template has something to say here :) As it styles it so look is a bit different than our demo e.g tabs.

sorry had had a chance to put more info as my laptop was dying.
I thing there is a conflict of the two versions, cos if you take a look here: traw.therockandwall.com it has the right look. This has been upgraded ro JS4 and than had incremental upgrades.
On the live site it went straight to JS4.07
I had to fiddle with overrides.php and change some css code, also for the landing image. I had to rename it as it kept overriding JS4's image. You ry to change the image within JomSocial, it will work because the default stock image of JS3 is renamed.

Your frontpage cover issue is strange... but it seems to be caused by your current template. Do a simple test: switch your current template with Joomla! default one - Protostar. Then disable gk_msocial template. Next try to upload new front cover. Image will change. Also if you switch your current template with Protostar without disapling it. Front cover will change after CTRL + F5 (that is clearing browser cache).
Please, test it.
