JomSocial Expired

Hi Guys

We have a jomsocial installtion behind a paid access component ( payplans ). Just noticed that the public setting still allows public viewing (access through google search ). I have set default user privacy to member and changed every group from public to private.

Can a user still load public content? as we do not want any part of jomosial to be public. What do we need to do?

Hi, Myrtle.

If content is public then public can view it.

You probably want to ask guest to login/register in order to view certain pages.

So you need to set each JomSocial page to "Registered" only.

Create hidden menu in Joomla Menu (hidden means that menu is not displayed nowhere on site... no menu module is loading it).
Then create following menu items:

Profile
Friends
Photos
Videos
Groups
Events

Link them to JomSocial pages and set their privacy to "Registered".

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you

Thank you, these menu items already existed, users need to be logged in to use JS, so I set them all to registered.

Is there anything else I need to do, to make the entire Jomsocial private? For example, in group creation, a user can still choose public. Will the registered only menu items solve this?
