If I try to change a group owner I ger a wsod - and nothing happpens.

Hi Bill,

do you mean change group owner from jomsocial backend. if so, please follow this steps for fixes:
1. edit administrator/components/com_community/controllers/groups.php
2. line 437

from
$member	= JTable::getInstance( 'GroupMembers' , 'CommunityTable' );

to 
$member	= JTable::getInstance( 'GroupMembers' , 'CTable' );

Let me know the result.
