ISSUE SUMMARY:
1) If an invited guest opens a private/closed event and responds 'No' or 'Maybe going' then the event page disappears! They immediately see an 'Error ...... 'request invitation'.

2) If they responded 'Maybe going' then on the All Events list the RSVP button disappears from the event as well. That means that after saying 'Maybe going' the invited guest can't change their Response to say 'Yes' or 'No' (as the button disappeared), and also they can't access the event details. So they can't say "Yes I can now come", as there is no button on the event listing.

It is unfriendly if they can't access the event details of an event they are invited to!

3) On the Event page: the person who chose 'Maybe going' wants to say yes, but sees the error message. If they choose 'Request Invitation' in the error message then they see the message 'You have already requested an invitation for this event, or, you are already an attendee.' So they can't respond and they can't request another invitation.

So the guest is very confused if they want to say "now I want to come to this event".

STEPS TO REPLICATE:
1 user X creates event "private party" and invites user Y
2 user Y opens event and responds 'maybe going'.... (Now the event page disappears)
3 Later user Y decides he can go to the event. He tries to open the event page and sees 'Error .......... Request invitation'. (I don't think he should get Error, as he was invited to this event)
4 user Y goes to 'All Events'. (He cannot see a "respond/RSVP' button to change his response from Maybe to Yes).

RESULT
EXPECTED RESULT
- If you say 'Maybe' to an event you should still see the Event page
- if you say 'Maybe' to an event you should still see 'RSVP' for the event on All Events
- If you say No to an event you are invited to you should still see the Event page (you were invited by your friend!! - there is no need to hide it)
- So there is no need for the message 'Error. Sorry, you don't have permission to see this event. Request invitation' to be shown to someone who was invited. [They can change from 'No' to 'Yes' in All Events anyway, so it is stupid to hide the event. ]
- the error message 'Error. Sorry, you don't have permission to see this event' should NOT say 'Request Invitation' as it is a private event, so someone should not be able to request an invitation. And the people who were invited already can't request an invitation anyway.

Thanks!

Thank you for reporting this.
I confirm your issue - it's a bug and I reported it to our developers.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Hi, Susan.

Please, make save copy of those files:

ROOT/components/com_community/helpers/access/events.php
ROOT/components/com_community/helpers/event.php
ROOT/components/com_community/templates/jomsocial/layouts/events/list.php
ROOT/components/com_community/views/events/view.html.php
ROOT/language/en-GB/en-GB.com_community.ini

Then upload content of package to Joomla! main directory on your server.

The only exception is for that point:

"the error message 'Error. Sorry, you don't have permission to see this event' should NOT say 'Request Invitation' as it is a private event, so someone should not be able to request an invitation. And the people who were invited already can't request an invitation anyway."

Alex explained:

...) because "invitation only" event can have the non-members request for invitation. Also, people who already request for invitation will see a message telling him to wait for admin approval when he goes into the event itself.

Please, test fix if it works for you. Confirm if it does.
