Problems with inviting Group Members to Group Events

ISSUE SUMMARY:
We had a previous issue, which you said had fixed in JS 4.1.1, but as we had not upgraded to that we couldn't test it - so had to wait. Now we are testing our dev version of 4.1.4 and we have found the problem still exists.

ISSUE SUMMARY:

1) event owner set up an Event A and checked 'send invitation to all group members automatically'. Then when she opened 'Invite Group members' pop-up she could see that the first 12 said 'invited', but all others were still available to 'Select' to invite because they were not invited yet. This was 37 people who were not invited automatically.

ie checking "Invite all group members" option in group event creation forum doesn't send invitations to all members

2) The mail queue shows that only the first 12 were sent the email notification "User X has invited you to join an event Valentine's Day Disco. Event Description: , To view the event, access the URL at the following location: {url} Have a nice day!". The other 37 group members were not emailed an invitation automatically. [NB Please note we are not talking about the separate email notification for New Group Event which is "D Group just added a new event. Subject: Sponsored Walk You can RSVP and view the event here: {url}". This email notification is working fine]. We are talking about 'Invitations'.

So it seems still there is a maximum limit of inviting 12 members to an event automatically.

STEPS TO REPLICATE:
1 go to a group
2 start to create an event
3 tick/check the box "Tick to email invitation to all group members automatically"
4 Create the event
5 go the 'Invite group members' button to bring up the modal window.
6 go to backend and look in the mail queue for 'invitations'
RESULT The first 12 members are shown as 'invited' and the rest have 'selected' against their name still
EXPECTED RESULT if you check 'invite all group members automatically they should be emailed an invitation, and the modal window should show they are invited.

Please, test this issue on JomSocial 4.1.6...
I noticed that you're testing on few versions behind current release.
Let's make sure that we both test the same scenario on the same versions... and lets use most recent ones.


- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

I have now tested on 4.1.6 and the problem remains. This is so disappointing, as this is an old issue!

Please can you investigate?

Hi, Susan.

I was able to confirm that issue on my test site with JomSocial 4.1.6 :(

Steps to replicate:

1. Created totally new group.
2. Assigned 29 members to it + 1 SU = 30 members in total
3. Created new event and checked "Invite all group members"

Result:

In email queue 29 records was created with email:

"Event New test event 18-02-2016 organized in the group Totally new group 18-02-2016. "

But only 19 that says:

"michal invited you to join the event New test event 18-02-2016 in group Totally new group 18-02-2016 "

And when clicking "Invite Group Members" 10 members are still available to invite.

I'm sorry Susan that this issue wasn't fixed... or rather appeared again.
I ask Alex to provide fix for 4.1.6 once and for all.

This was fixed. So this seems to be a new bug as I can't find any report about it.

The problem was always 'wider' for us than the problem in support ticket www.jomsocial.com/forum/events/29002-inv...members-of-the-group

Hi,
I know it is beyond your control, but we really want this fix as soon as possible! We were going to upgrade our live site to 4.1.6 at the end of last week, but now we want to wait for a stable fix for this event invitation issue first. And we just spotted that Jomsocial 4.2 is out soon. We haven't caught up!!

As this fix was promised for 4.1, is there a way you can ask the developers to prioritise it.....?

Make safe copy of this file:

ROOT/components/com_community/controllers/events.php

Then replace original file with patched one from package.
