We have been working really hard to come out with a very compelling solution for you to host your online community. I would like to announce a couple of changes to the JomSocial project.

  1. Support for IE6 will be officially discontinued in the next major release.
Support for IE6 at the moment are already limited to basic feature and css issues is no longer supported.

I don't think I need to elaborate why this this is necessary do I ? Since its last release about 8 years ago, Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) was no longer the most favorite browser, instead, became the most loathed among developers and designers due to the inherent limitations of the browser.

I'm sure most end-users have had problems using IE6 ranging from security flaws, CSS errors, design incompatibility, just to name a few. It is a stumbling block especially to our developers in getting our products to work efficiently in IE. Most inquiries we get have always been the common ones – non-display of certain parts of a page, distorted page, buttons that do not work once clicked, etc. We spend too much time tweaking our software just to make sure it works on IE but, at the back of our heads, we should be doing stuff that brings more value to our customers.

  2. Development road-map for 2010 document is available in the forum. The document outlines our vision and the general direction of JomSocial project. The road-map however, is not a promise of any future feature (JomSocial is released as-is) . It serve as a guidelines for our development team to help us stay focus. Naturally, we always listen to our user and the road-map will be updated to reflect your feedback.
