Hello. I am trying to send a private message to a user with my own component. In the docs there is a way to send a notification. I'd like to send a private message instead.
I can only see a way to open a popup for users to be able to write each other but not for my component to write a status to a user.

I'd like to know if there is a syntax like CMessaging::send(from, to, subject, body) but can't find a solution so far.

You can send the Private message to your friends. Open his profile and you will see the message option.
For example on the jomsocial community at my profile and option.

But not integrating as a message option for users that open a popup. I mean sending a message from a component to the user to inform what the component has done.
Like a user asks a question, the component sends a private message to the user that an answer has been written.

Sorry, this is fully custom work and need to create a plugin to get this done.
I also asked developer but as its pure customisation request that is out of support scope to suggest changes. We also removed the private message in Jomsocial now it use chat feature in Jomsocial 4.5. Now the message are in chat from the chat table.
