Hi,
I am trying to assign user points for just simply posting on a wall and also for just commenting on a post. There are 71 different activity types showing but nothing that will award points for posting on your own wall, or posting on someone else's wall. Or commenting on either. Can you please advise how this can be accomplished?

That is correct, there are no such a point rules.
You need to create them by customization. This may require help of professional developer.

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

Thats too bad. There are 71 different activities that badges can be assigned to, but not an option for the most common activity? Why would the devs not have included this? Anyway, can I hire you to do it?

I'm sorry but we don't offer customizations services.
Posting on stream is most basic activity. If you could earn points for that... user will start to post random rubbish only to get points. So in short time user could get what ever number of points but your community will be filled with trash. To prevent that you'll need some kind of antiflood or moderation system... but you want your user to wait till that post is accepted?

That is why we didn't set points for posts.

I agree with Ian - this points rule should be included as default :)
I was suprised that it doesn't included.
Thanks.

To prevent "rubbish only to get points." we can set 1 point for profile wall post, but 10/20/30/50 for video/album post.
SO 1 points not too much :)

That's not that easy. Points rules are also related with activity visibility. Disabling rule will hide certain activities on stream. Many times point rues are misunderstood and misconfigured. Adding new general rule will complicate it further. Also there are websites that use community to allow users to earn points. So post rule could be very fast exploited. How fast you may post things? How fast you can remove rubbish? :) No guys, this idea has too many loose ends.

Please, check JomSocial 4.4 :) There is rule called: "Post Status From Share Box" so now you may add points simply for posting ;)
