Welcome the Technical Support section. Help us in assisting you by providing us with a concise and descriptive elaboration of your issues. Be specific and if possible, provide us with a step-by-step instruction in replicating your problem.
In which file should I search to modify, if I want to change the layout/add extra functions of the modal image view?
Also wanted to ask is there a way to add back the earlier existed method, that has been removed now: changing the link in the browser when we step from image to image.
Thank you for contacting us.
Modal window is fully created by js scripts so changing it will be hard (they are minified).
Fiddling with them may break modal window functionality.
As for photo URL change - I'll ask if this is possible.
- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.
- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
Firstly great thanks for your really fast reply.
1.) Can you give me a point which JS file(s) are used for the modal gallery? Maybe that would be enough to help me.
2.) Would be really glad if there were any solution for that URL changing possibility, waiting for any information.
I passed both your inquiries to our developers.
Now we'll need to wait a bit as they reside in different timezone as there is evening already.
I'll update you as soon I'll get their reply.

It is inside “sitename.com/components/com_community/assets/release/js/bundle.js” due to minification. But the source is located at “sitename.com/components/com_community/assets/source/js/popups/photo.open.js”. The function itself is exposed to the global object (window) as “joms.api.photoOpen”.
There is currently no feature to change the url as we navigate through the images, but I guess you can customize it by utilizing History API which available in every major browsers.
