Hi, Alfredo.
There is no such a feature... but you may set Joomla! to send passwords to users then, using language override feature in Joomla!, change text in this email to a kind of welcome message.
But this will send an email and not PM.
a welcome message is very important, i don't mean email.
related question: can i change the first login query string?
somethink like
www.mysite.com/frontpage?firstaccess=true
Hi, Alfredo.
Maybe this extension could help you:
www.readybytes.net/labs/welcome-message.html

Hi, Alfredo.
You mean, first login string?
You may try, It should not affect JomSocial... this will be just an additional parameter in URL...

if($_GET['firstlogin']==true){...}
Hi, Alfredo.
There is no such as "first login" in Joomla or JomSocial out-of-the-box. You need to have or create a plugin that detects such behavior and display additional parameters in URL.
So I can't point you to any place as it doesn't exist... your concern is to create it. probably as a plugin.
Something similar to this:
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/access-...login-redirect/13463
if someone is interested i made the welcome message plugin multilanguage
still up with the first login issue, another joomla social component has this, too bad jomsocial doesnt have.
