JomSocial Expired

The steps to create the problem is as follows:

1. Backup system files by compressing and downloading files from File Manager in cPanel on Date A;

2. After some users uploaded some photos to the website, backup MySQL database by exporting tables from PHPMyAdmin on Date B.

3. Use the system files from Date A and the database from Date B to create another website. The problem is that, the new website (after it is up and running) cannot show the newly uploaded photos at the step 2 above, even though it is imported with the latest database .

4. Go to the backend of the original website, we found that the newly uploaded photos at the step 2 above created a new folder "443" under /images/originalphptos in the system files. Since the system files from Date A does not have this new folder, the new website cannot display the newly added photos. The backend has the error message:

Warning: filesize(): stat failed for /home/aafie/public_html/aafie.net/images/originalphotos/443/20/f92bf313b034c8c9b19054ec.jpg in /home/aafie/public_html/aafie.net/administrator/components/com_community/views/photos/view.html.php on line 92
0 MB

5. So the problem is related to how to backup JomSocial website: it seems we cannot just only backup "MySQL database", we also need to backup the system files, as new user contents will create new subdirectories in the system files. If this is true, it is a problem for database backup.

Thanks!

HI, Frank.

Yes, you can't do that as there will be difference between database stored data and file system.

Use this extension: extensions.joomla.org/extensions/access-...security/backup/1606
It's really easy to use. You create FULL backup of your site with 2 clicks :)
Backup creates one file that is a kind of installer (it contains database and files system compressed to jpa file).

Restoring is also easy - it's like installing new Joomla! but with stored data. Extension contains a tutorial video that explain it usage.

Go for it - this days nobody do a separated copies of db and files :)

- Instead of saying: 'it's not working', explain the problem in detail.
- Screenshots with the URL visible in them and the problem marked are more than welcome.
- Tell us how to replicate the problem, we can't fix it if we can't find it.
- Make sure that your site/server meets JomSocial System Requirements
- Make sure to setup JomSocial Cron Job
- Always provide us with access details to the backend and ftp. We need it to debug problems.
- If you have a similar problem, but a solution you found isn't working, open a new thread instead of 'merging' with an existing one.

- Use the "Thank You" feature on any post that helped you
