What is iContact
iContact is a easy to use newsletter service that take the hassle out of managing your own email server. JomSocial iContact plugins will allow you to synchronized all Joomla user on your site to your iContact account. Why do we promote this service ? Because we are using it ourselves and we know they are pretty good!
Requirements
- An iContact account. You can create a trial account for free here
- PHP 5.1.3 or above
How to set up JomSocial User Sync plugin ?
Firstly, you need to allow JomSocial User Sync application to access your iContact account. Follow the steps below
- Login to your iContact account
- Go to https://app.icontact.com/icp/core/externallogin?sAppId=9okWEkILqU77PqWWSSfQXppdiSHCebDe
- Enter a new password to be used by the application and click "Save" . Keep this password as you will need it to configure the plugin later
- You should now see "JomSocial User Sync" as one of the enabled application for your account.
In Joomla backend, under Extensions -> Plugin Manager -> iContact , configure the plugin with the settings below.

FAQ
Q: I have installed and enabled it, but there is no contact appear in iContact!
A: The plugin will perform the synchronization during cron processing. To avoid processing timeout, it will only update a few user on each call. For a large site, it could take a few days to synchronize everyone in your site.
Q: What happen if my users change their email address or username ?
A: The plugin is smart enough to update the email, name and various other information automatically! So don't worry.
