Basic configuration

Jom Social configurations can be accessed from the back end of your Joomla site. You will have to access the back end component of JomSocial and click on the link "Global Configuration". Below is a list of the configurations that is available and a brief description of what each configuration does.

1. Frontpage Title : Frontpage title allows you to have a customized title in the browser for the frontpage of JomSocial.
2. Frontpage recent members : You may configured the X number of recent members to be displayed on the frontpage of JomSocial.

Media Setting

1. Enable Videos: Enable or disable the videos functionality in JomSocial.
2. Enable videos upload: Enable or disable the videos uploading feature in JomSocial.
3. Delete original videos: If enabled, original videos are deleted once the videos are converted to the appropriate formats.
4. Path to uploaded videos: Set the path to where videos are stored.
5. Maximum video upload size: Set the maximum uploaded video size allowed in Megabytes (MB)
6. FFMPEG Path: Set the absolute path to FFMPEG binary. If the binary is not found, JomSocial will not be able to convert videos into .flv formats.
7. FLVTool2 Path: Set the absolute path to FLVTool2 binary to enable flash video metadata injections.
8. Video Quantizer Scale: Select the video quality from a scale of 1 (Excellent) to 31 (Worst). 5, 9 and 11 are recommended settings.
9. Videos Size: Set the video frame size in width X height format.
10. Custom Command: Specify additional commands for FFMPEG ( Advanced Users )
11. Video Player License Key: Enter the license key which is generated through your account section at http://www.jomsocial.com/download.html. Providing the appropriate key will hide JomSocial's logo from the video. *Video Key is not required for 1.7 and above
12. Folder Permissions: On some servers, you might need to specify the default permission level for new folders.

Facebook Connect

1. API Key: Set the API key that is provided by Facebook.
2. Application Secret: Set the Secret key that is provided by Facebook.

• Note: In order for Facebook connect to work correctly, both these keys will need to be set correctly.

Facebook Connect Imports

1. Import facebook profile on first sign up: Enabling this option will ensure that the users profile are imported from Facebook. Not every profile information are imported as there are some restrictions that Facebook imposes.
2. Add Facebook watermarks on avatar: This option allows profile pictures imported from Facebook to have a small watermark at the bottom right of the pictures.
3. Automatically re-import user profile upon login: Enabling this will ensure that users profile will be imported each time the users sign on through Facebook Connect.
4. Automatically re-import user avatar upon login: Enabling this will cause user's profile picture to be imported from Facebook each time the user signs on through Facebook Connect.
5. Update user status: Enabling this option will allow users status to be imported from Facebook each time user signs on through Faceboook Connect.
