JomSocial 2.6, a global overview of features

The most awaited JomSocial 2.6 has been released. This newest iteration has gone through almost 4 months of Alpha, Beta and RC (Release Candidate) testing phases. The first official Alpha was released on the first week of 2012 and has gone through 10 releases to break our record of having the longest ever beta tasting phase in any JomSocial version. It is also in a very wide margin, the most downloaded JomSocial ever with over 11,000 cumulative downloads during its testing phase.
We are confident, yes we are, that JomSocial 2.6 is now ready for public consumption. It will take your community to new heights, with a number of highly interactive, yet scalable features at your disposal.

With almost 10,000 cumulative downloads of JomSocial 2.6 Alpha, Beta and Release Candidate versions, the next generation JomSocial 2.6 is poised to be our biggest unveiling of the best social networking platform available on Joomla.
We are proud to announce the immediate availability of JomSocial 2.6 Release Candidate Three, slotted to be the last Release Candidate version of JomSocial 2.6 before we go stable! This release is the closest you can get to an actual stable version. Last week’s release of JomSocial RC2 saw us committing around 140 issues discovered since RC1, and today’s release of JomSocial 2.6 RC Three eradicates a further 60 bugs with 20 new enhancements.

JomSocial 2.2 Nueve is here!
We are excited to announce that the most anticipated JomSocial 2.2 Nueve has been released. This is the ninth major release for JomSocial, hence we named it Nueve(Spanish for nine).
So what's the biggest thing in 2.2? No doubt it's Joomla 1.6 compatibility. Many of our users have been waiting to pair up the best social networking tool with Joomla 1.6. We are glad to report that you can now deploy JomSocial 2.2 on Joomla 1.6 without any problem! -
The new Social Stream
You know how developers are. Once they get into the development "flow", they would be so focused on their work that they hate to stop even for a moment to blog or even take a shower.
We have been working super hard on JomSocial 2.2, so focused on our work to a point that we are a little quiet and people started to wonder if we actually work at all! Ironic.
So, after a hot shower this morning, I feel that I should share with everyone something that we have been working very hard on. The shining new activity stream! I'll just let the picture do the talking.

Sam in Da House!
Last Friday, we had the honor of having one of the Joomla! core developer, Sam Moffatt in our office. He spent a couple of hours with JomSocial team and gave us some personal insights into the upcoming Joomla! 1.6.
I can tell you that we are pretty excited with Joomla! 1.6 and what it offers. As far as JomSocial is concerned, we will certainly make our code runs smoothly with Joomla! 1.6, making JomSocial the best open source social networking software for Joomla! 1.6. Work on this has already begun and in fact other than some plugin issues, we are almost good to go.
