Beta Released: JomSocial 2.2.3 Beta 3 with Joomla 1.7 support
We have just released JomSocial 2.2.3 Beta 3 which is compatible with Joomla! 1.7 Beta. There are various bugfixes and feature enhancements packed into this release. If you are an active customer and would like to try this out, head over to our release thread.

Developer Tips: Extend any JomSocial form easily
I was was recently contacted by a developer who wanted some help hacking JomSocial core code. Within JomSocial privacy setting page, he wanted to add some of his own form elements, which would affect some privacy setting of his application.
What? hacking JomSocial core files ? NOOOOO! Really, you don't have to do that bro! Let me show you easy way to extend any JomSocial form with your own content, all from within a plugin.

The year 2011 has definitely been a good year for our friends at JPeople! May 2011 marked their 1st birthday celebrated by their growth of nearly 7,000 members, 1604 photos, 443 videos, 513 Groups and 57 categories and still counting! JPeople is the place for Joomla! community to meet, share and enrich their Joomla! experience. We at JomSocial are pleased to wish them happy birthday and happy growing!
We actually feel really proud to be part of the project. As developer for the social network component that power the JPeople site, nothing gets us more excited than to see it bringing Joomla! community closer together. We really want to see Joomla! community to have the most amazing time in any Open Source project in the world! Having said that, software plays only a small part. Great work by the site admins and your participation bring this site alive.

Good bye "wall". Hello "Social Stream"
When 2.2 was released a couple of weeks back, quite a few people were shocked to see the wall plugin is no more. Let me assure you that this is a major step forward and is something we should celebrate!
The "wall" has been with us since the first release of JomSocial. With the release of 2.2, we have decided to integrate comment-on-profile, (which is normally the job for the wall plugin) into the stream itself. So, instead of having a separate section for those messages, it now flows nicely into your personal social stream. As an added bonus, it now gains the new 'like' and 'comment' feature from the stream.
This is just the beginning. We really want to make friend-to-friend interaction more fluid and fun. JomSocial 2.2 Nueve is here!
We are excited to announce that the most anticipated JomSocial 2.2 Nueve has been released. This is the ninth major release for JomSocial, hence we named it Nueve(Spanish for nine).
So what's the biggest thing in 2.2? No doubt it's Joomla 1.6 compatibility. Many of our users have been waiting to pair up the best social networking tool with Joomla 1.6. We are glad to report that you can now deploy JomSocial 2.2 on Joomla 1.6 without any problem!
Welcome to the new team members
JomSocial has always room to expand. This time, we have three new experienced members to join our team. In total, we have 26 people, both part timers working around the clock and full time team members working in the office. We would like to welcome Izuddin (front end developer), Fuqaha (customer support/customer experience specialist) and Amer (web developer). Each of them will be paired with an older member of the JomSocial team to get them started on the project.
PS: We are currently working late tonight to get ready for the release of JomSocial 2.2. So, stay tuned for that!

Farewell my dear friends!
It has been a while since I wrote a blog here because I was quite tied up with the development and support. When I initially joined the company, it was a pretty small development firm back in 2007. Slowly, it grew into a large team consisting of over 20 people. I am really happy to see such progress and looking at the growth of JomSocial since it's initial birth really gives me a great feeling of satisfaction. I have seen the ups and downs of the software but I must say that you guys are super amazing and wonderful customers! Never have I seen such great spirit, really!
Just like every plot, there is a happy ending to it. I am sad to say that I will be moving on and will be leaving the ever so wonderful team of JomSocial and Sookachat :(
This will be my final blog entry contributed in JomSocial's journal and I am very grateful to know and meet every single one of you. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to anyone if there are mistakes done on my end, or if I may have caused any dissatisfaction whilst I was here.
I guess some of you might be confused on how the development path might go on, not to worry of course, ROME wasn't built in a day and of course it isn't built by a single person. There are a huge number of great developers , moderators which will still be serving you, Jewei , Fazli , Neil , fuqaha , Lars , Brandon , John Gybels , Kai , Dimas , Johnny and so many others. They will still be regularly attending to your issues and I am very sure that they will perform their duty spectacularly!
To all customers, Thank you once again for all your great support and keep the spirit burning!

JomSocial 2.2 RC 1 Available for downloads now!
I am very excited to announce the new availability of JomSocial 2.2 RC1 which will also mark the end of the beta testing. I understand many customers are waiting patiently for Joomla 1.6 compatibility and we've worked very hard towards this for the new release. As updated on our development twitter account, http://twitter.com/jomsocialdev, the number of commits for 2.2 release was 3,000, more than double the commits for 1.8 and 2.0.
It is almost impossible to have all new updates for JomSocial 2.2 tested in all different environments. The RC release will ensure that all new updates are stable and that you will enjoy smooth experience with JomSocial 2.2. Once all errors are eliminated, we will then gear towards a final release.

Our Affiliate Program Is Now More Awesome Then Ever!
Here’s something I would like to share with our partners and affiliates or even potential affiliates. As you would have already known by now that our affiliate program pays 20% commission for each sale you refer. One thing you might not know is that we also have a tiered commission structure where affiliates can earn up to 35% in commission for referring more than $5,000 sales per month!
Our affiliate program has been very successful thus far and we intend to improve on it even more. We made slight changes to our affiliate program to provide affiliates with much more benefits for promoting us.
