Do you want to be a part of the contributing community? Let us know what you think should be included or revamped in the upcoming Advance Search for JomSocial 2.2

When we first added Advance Search into JomSocial, our initial goal was to allow users to have more flexibility and control over their search results.

JomSocial User Management Coming Right Up

Posted by: mark

Tagged in: user , community

I've seen quite a number of users requesting this and have been working hard on the user management. Although it feels like this would be a duplicate of Joomla's user management, after testing our own dog food, we found out that proper user management is really needed. For an instance, for me to view another user's detail, I would need to do it on the front end by browsing / searching for them and it would not be possible to edit them. This feature might be included in the next build as it is pretty handy for site administrators.

Here's some teaser for you guys ;)

If you are a Linux user, you might want to check out Linux.com new site at http://www.linux.com  . The whole site are now running on a nice, flashy Joomla 1.5 . They have also deploy a community section, using...  well, JomSocial !

We are thrilled to have such a high profile site to be running JomSocial. It shows that our software is indeed a viable, economical choice to power your community. It can certainly help with yours too.

So, if you are a Linux fan, do check them out! Now, I'll have to get back to work, adding final touches to 1.2.

Hi, I am Alex Yap from Jomsocial.com / Azrul.com . I am a system developer and most of my work revolves around application and module development. I am in charge of most of the API / triggers that you see around the codes. If there are any triggers / plugins / applications that you think needs to be added in JomSocial, feel free to let me know.

Apart from this, I am also posting some new features which we have added recently into JomSocial.

User integration

1. No additional login module required. One of our earlier aim is to remove any needs for separate login modules. Joomla built-in login module should be good enough. I understand a lot of template club already have a custom coded login module and it would be a waste not to be able to use those.

 2. No required profile field. All profile field are optional and fully customizable. We do not want to force you to have any additional field if you don't want to. If you do specify it however, the registration page will present these fields as you would expect.

3. Doesn't need any database sync. None whatsoever. We want all user to integrate seamlessly with the rest of your site.
