We initiate this migration experiment by utilizing jUpgrade. jUpgrade is a popular migrator which has helped many to move from Joomla 1.5 to Joomla 1.6/1.7 not so long ago. It is frequently mentioned in numerous Joomla migration articles, in the Joomla Community blog, and also within the official Joomla Wiki.

Yes, you heard it right. JomSocial 2.4.2 is fully compatible with Joomla 2.5 without needing any update or compatibility patch.
The JomSocial Team would like to congratulate the Joomla Development Team and the awesome Community behind it for delivering the latest iteration of the world’s most popular open source content management system.
For your information, Joomla 2.5 is intended to be an LTS (a Long Term Support) version, which will be kept updated through October, 2013. It is a polished gem, a fusion of updates in Joomla 1.6 and Joomla 1.7 that are finally merged into an LTS tree.

We are excited to announce that the most anticipated JomSocial 2.2 Nueve has been released. This is the ninth major release for JomSocial, hence we named it Nueve(Spanish for nine).
So what's the biggest thing in 2.2? No doubt it's Joomla 1.6 compatibility. Many of our users have been waiting to pair up the best social networking tool with Joomla 1.6. We are glad to report that you can now deploy JomSocial 2.2 on Joomla 1.6 without any problem!

We are throwing a little challenge to Malaysian student designers. We want students to share with us how they think the next generation social networking site should look like!
Tell us how you think social networking site users should share their pictures, videos, friend list, updates and even how they should communicate with their friends. If you have more ideas of a comprehensive look, you can submit more than one design into a single submission. Be creative, your design can look totally different from what we have now. You can provide a unique design for each activity where for example, the design for photo sharing is different from video sharing.
