Email is most probably older than Internet but as with Internet, it is still highly relevant today. Now, there are a lot of tools  that might supersede email such as Twitter, Facebook and other social networking sites that makes email look archaic. However, as old as it may seem, email is still a powerful communication tool. As an open source community software user, it will be even more useful.

Several great new 3rd Party free and commercial JomSocial apps & modules have been released this week by our partners!

The first batch come from JomSocialplate.com and include:

  • JS Mutual Friend ($6.00): This app appears on the profile page, either as core or after adding. If you visit another user who has the application, it will automatically show you mutual friends. It also includes settings to set how many you display on the profile page. And it shows a Link which takes you to a page showing you all mutual friends.
  • JS My Links ($6.00): This app allows users to input their own Link name and Link URL's onto their profile page. The profile configuration automatically inputs a 'http://' inside the url text box. This means that if a community user forgets the http:// or http://www. The URL will still display and link correctly. There is also a Link Name field where the user can input their links description/name to make sure other users know what that Link is about.
  • JS My Quotes ($6.00): This app allows users to input their own favourite quotes and who quoted them, onto their profile page. There is also a Link Name field where the user can input their own favourite quotes and who the quote was from.
  • JS Online Friends ($6.00): This app appears on the profile page, either as core or after adding. If you visit another user who has the application, it will automatically show you Online friends. It also includes admin settings to set how many you display on the profile page. When no friends are online, it will display a message stating this.
  • JS Horizontal Hellome module ($4.00)

Your JomSocial users can now show their favorite YouTube videos from within their JomSocial profiles with new AyTube4JS commercial plugin by Flameforge.

AyTube4JS allows users to display specific YouTube videos, videos uploaded by a particular YouTube user, or the favourites of a YouTube user...all within their profile page (via AJAX).

By clicking on the Prev and Next links, one can scroll through multiple YouTube videos. Alternatively, for even faster navigation, a modal popup will display, showing a list of videos available. Clicking on the name of one video will cause that video to be shown.

Hey Everybody...

It's been awhile since I posted about progress with 3rd party app/template providers.

A few of you posted comments in my last entry that it "wasn't appropriate" for me to discuss 3rd party app/template development when your "most requested features" still hadn't made their way into JomSocial.

Reportings !

Yeah! Finally some time off from coding.  I have seen quite a number of users requesting this feature and now, here's a little sneak preview of what's coming up very shortly =P

( Frontend view when a user tries to submit a report )

( Frontend view once a user submitted a report )

( Backend view for administrators to manage these reports )

The idea behind the entire reporting feature is so that 3rd party developers, be it a plugin developer, application developer could very easily use this library and not to mention it only requires a couple of lines to generate the reporting link. ; )
