JomSocial User Management Coming Right Up
Posted by: mark on Jun 24, 2009
I've seen quite a number of users requesting this and have been working hard on the user management. Although it feels like this would be a duplicate of Joomla's user management, after testing our own dog food, we found out that proper user management is really needed. For an instance, for me to view another user's detail, I would need to do it on the front end by browsing / searching for them and it would not be possible to edit them. This feature might be included in the next build as it is pretty handy for site administrators.
Here's some teaser for you guys ;)

Does JomSocial use the same database as the default Joomla user database (and there for just enhance/extend it)? I am gettung ready to purchase, and I hope this is the case so users do not have to log in twice to see & use the user data on the rest of the site (and other apps that use the default user database).
Hi,
This issue has been fixed internally. For the time being, please refer to this thread for a quick fix.

This is included in the newest released, just installed it and tested it. However, it does not show hidden fields in the user manager, only thing I really need the user manager for (to see fields that are not displayed on the profile)
why to duplicate stuff when u can manage users in front end ? is there any reason behind that ? ,,looking forward for this feature
in Uservoice this is marked as complete. What does it mean? When can we get it??
Why to duplicate, if you have this functionality in your frontend.
My suggestion : User's should be editable in place, in frontend. That will make sense.
Its my suggestion for usability and code quality.
Thanks
Shyam
