JomSocial Renewal Policy. What Happens After 12 Months?

Posted by: azrul

Tagged in: pricing , news

With every copy of JomSocial sold, we provide access to the download area for another 12 months. This allows you to download any new future updates, major or minor, completely free.

So, what happen after 12 months? With many other Joomla! components that use 'subscription' model, you actually end up paying the same amount yearly. In JomSocial however, you can simply renew your download access to the latest build for a much cheaper fee.

Do you have to pay every year to continue using JomSocial ? No. Your usage license will NEVER expire and you can use your current copy of JomSocial for as long as you like. You only need to pay the renewal fee if you want to gain access to the download area for additional 12 months.

We have decided to make renewal as affordable as possible. Renewing your download access for another 12 months will only be $74.50 and $59.40 for each Professional and Standard Edition, respectively. This basically means that you will enjoy a massive 50% and 40% discounts for renewing your licenses.

If you renew BEFORE your download expires, the download expiry date will be extended for another 12 months from the current expiry date.

If you renew AFTER your download has expired, the next expiry date will be 12 months from the date of payment.

On Monday, November 2nd onwards, you will be able to renew your license in the download area within your download page. All you need to do is to login to your download page and you will see the renewal link next to each purchase. Just click on that link and once the payment is completed, your download access will automatically be renewed.

EARLY BIRD SPECIAL: Within November and December 2009, you can use this discount code 'JSEarlyBird" to enjoy additional $15 off the renewal fee!!.

If you have any questions, feel free to post it at our forum.

Renewal fees are just to expensive, this is big minus for JS.
No wonder ppl dl nulled JS, if you want to keep your customers then renewal fees must be lower.

Renewal fees are the same as a new user with a discount coupon! Not good enough in my opinion. My renewal is due in 5 days and just missed the 20% discount expiry. How convenient for Azural but not for me. Looks like I will have to get the latest versions from bittorrent from now on.

I can not afford that I was expecting it to be like Myblog and Jomcomment with something like a 20 dollar renewal or something in that range well I guess after this time is up I have to abandon this. Great product though wish you all the luck.

I have loved Jomsocial, However i was expecting the renewal fee to be less. And taking into consideration the post above, you can get discounts from other sites for purchasing Jomsocial new, for nearly the same price.

For over 6/8 months now i have not requested Support.
So all i would be paying for is maybe 3/4 updates. Which is definately not worth it.

I already have the Base product, That will do for now.
Maybe i will renew in 12 months time.

Sorry to sound ungrateful, but your birthday renewal tweet said "1st Anniversary: We're offering huge discounts to all existing users". If I apply the discount you are offering it comes to $74.50 USD.

If I apply the Joomlashack coupon for a new purchase, that total would be...$74.50 USD

The "huge discount" to all existing users seems to be exactly the same as sales going on elsewhere in the Joomlaverse?

What I mean, is it has been updated 1 year from either today or 1 year from you last expiry date, as explained in the post.

I am also issuing partial refund for those who renew but fail to apply the discount code (due to the missing input box ealier), even if you did not ask for it.

Thanks for getting the renew page fixed. I just renewed

My original license would have expired on 19/11/2009 so if I go by what you stated in the Blog post,

If you renew BEFORE your download expires, the download expiry date will be extended for another 12 months from the current expiry date.

but this is not the case, I should have 12 months and 16 days not 12 months available, 16 days mans alot and could mean the difference between a current JS release and a Major release. We are loyal customers and we should not have to email you to request refunds/credits and days to be added to our access periods because of administrative issues, you have all our details, Please rectify, pretty please smilies/cry.gif

I know of at least one other member Ivi that has a similar access period issue.

come on guys, we would never lie to you. Coupon code input box has been fixed. If you have paid, just email us at support@azrul.com and we would do a partial refund or extend the download access, whichever you prefer.

I have been trying to renew since yesterday, taking into account the Malaysian Timezone but also found that there was no Coupon field, posted on the JS forums and Azrul replied that I was early and that it was now set up. It is still not available yet, as I type this 16 hours latersmilies/cry.gif

Azrul,
I just renewed and there was no place to add the discount code.
It is simply unfair to lie your customers that way.

This software is pretty cheap compared to competitors, so I think a few of the complainers on here are a little out of line. But the renewal price does seem a bit pricey considering the back-end features still need a little improvement.

Is this a modified Joomla, or is it an add on to Joomla where I have to already have Joomla installed? I'm searching for a solution for a coffee house Web site that will enable our customers to socialize, but I also need actual Web pages for our menus, our shopping cart, our features of the day and our entertainment line up. I planned on doing all this with Joomla, then find modules to incorporate all the features I want.

This is insulting. You haven't had a stable release EVER and you're charging for renewals? We have to pay AGAIN to wait around for more buggy releases?

How about, instead, you renew everyone FOR FREE until you can release a single stable version?
