JomSocial 2.2 Features

We are excited to announce that the most anticipated JomSocial 2.2 Nueve has been released. This is the ninth major release for JomSocial, hence we named it Nueve(Spanish for nine).

So what's the biggest thing in 2.2? No doubt it's Joomla 1.6 compatibility. Many of our users have been waiting to pair up the best social networking tool with Joomla 1.6. We are glad to report that you can now deploy JomSocial 2.2 on Joomla 1.6 without any problem!

Not only that, JomSocial 2.2 comes with a host of new features. Our new toolbar sports an improved notification system, easy-to-navigate menus and as you can see above, sleeker than ever design.

The activity stream has been replaced with Social Stream. This is the heart of your community where people can post updates (through a multifunctional share box) or directly respond to an activity with 'likes' or comments.

I'd like to let you know more about all the new features but we have prepared What’s New in JomSocial 2.2 page for that purpose. Once you are done with the page, proceed to Download page to get the latest version of JomSocial. Don’t forget to refer to the Guide to Install or Upgrade thread.

Do NOT upgrade to 2.2!!!! I upgraded JomSocial to 2.2, followed all installation instructions precisely, and it totally crashed the database including all Joomla pages. I tried getting help from the JomSocial support forum, but they have not been able to figure it out yet after a week. I would be VERY careful and only install on a backup site, not your live site. I know some people have been successful with 2.2, but that has not been my experience.

I know this is probably not the place for this but i tried to get help and am stuck. Can anyone tell me how to edit the text in activity stream for events. Example "user_name entered a new event, event_name in event_category" to "user_name entered a new event, event_name" ?

please, there is a very serious problem! when community users upload photos to their profile, or just personal photos, new folders will be created to organize these photos, but these folders are not protected with files like index.html to hide the contents (Other images from other users, and they may be do not want anyone coming to see them, otherwise the strategy of confidentiality will be meaningless if the photos are not protected!)
it's unfair that anyone who has a link to a image can browse the entire contents of the folder containing the image, including images from other users who believe their photos are 100% protected

the idea is that each time creating folders, also a index.html file type is created with, to protect and hide the contents against any attempts of violation of confidentiality rules.

please take this idea seriously! is very important for users of the community! confidentiality is crucial.

hey Irwan... good job guys... but is it me or you guys still need to patch up a few things.
1) I noticed the wall is still missing or doesn't get transferred to the activity stream as "statuses" or friends profile comments. It'll be great to see this implemented, instead of eliminating it completely.
2) I'm transferring my cb site to jomsocial and when I click "friends" on my js profile, I noticed some of them have "0 friends" when in reality they do have friends. is a new migrator needed?

so far, those two have been my problem and I just started yesterday

It will get updated today. Our top most priority is to attend to upgrade issues in the forum and fix small bugs that were not reported during RC phase.

Hello Developers i am glad to see the new jomsocial 2.2 which i was greedily waiting for it to come out!
Plus i love the new features in it specially the likes and comments + Ajax Refresh......
i wish to see another big change like this in the next release which will be 2.3 love it!!!!!
